I am the reading specialist at Taylor Mountain, and I am no longer the newbie, as this is now my third year here! I love being a Hawk, my all time favorite animal. Previously, I taught at Kawana Academy since 1986, teaching kindergarten through third grade. For the past ten years, I have been a reading teacher, working with students in grades kindergarten through 6th grade. I love working with children, helping them become better readers and writers. I want all students to become strategic, independent readers, with a deep understanding of what they read. But most importantly, I want them to love BOOKS and READING.

I live in Healdsburg with my husband, Mike and 16 year old daughter, Alina. We have a lot of fun together; traveling, camping, listening to music and spending time with our friends. Reading is one of my passions in life. I am in two different book groups, one of which is with fellow teachers. I also love spending time in nature; camping, hiking and backpacking. Another interest of mine is traveling. I especially enjoy learning about different cultures, and exploring all the delicious foods of the world. I am not much of a shopper, but when I travel I can spend many hours in the local markets. There are many places I still would like to visit.
